What will the procedure be if your Caesarean section is planned?

If you decide to have a caesarean, the midwife will accompany you to the operating theatre and will remain with you during the operation and during your time in the recovery room prior to accompanying you back to your room.

Your new-born will be checked by your pediatrician and then whenever possible, placed on your chest for a few moments, prior to being placed in an incubator to be transported to the recovery room. Here, you will be able to enjoy your first moments with your baby and your spouse. Skin on skin contact is encouraged in order to create the first reassuring parent-child bond.
