Diagnostic and interventional radiology_

Radiology is the medical specialisation dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of lesions within the body using medical imaging.

In the medical sector, the term radiology refers to all diagnostic and therapeutic methods using radiation. This medical speciality is practised by radiologists assisted by medical radiology technicians.

The Radiology Institute at the Clinique de La Source is the largest private centre for medical imagery in the Canton of Vaud, and in this regard enjoys the benefit of state-of-the-art equipment for radiology examinations requested by your doctor.

The diagnosis established by the radiologist may be made on the basis of various different medical imaging techniques:

  • conventional radiology
  • scanner
  • MRI
  • sonography using ultrasound
  • nuclear medicine
  • mammography
  • bone densitometry

Interventional radiology

Interventional radiology relies on medical imaging (sonography, scans, MRI, etc…) to administer treatment to patients.

These minimally invasive treatments may offer an alternative to surgery, with added advantages such as fewer post-operative complications as well as reduced length of stay in hospital.

The Radiology institute of the Clinique de La Source works with radiologists specialised in:

  • osteoarticular disorders
  • vascular diseases
  • radio-oncology.
