During this consultation, the independent anaesthesiologist will answer your questions and explain the planned anaesthesia technique.

Your informed consent will be requested if necessary.

Pre-admission nursing consultation

If you have private or semi-private insurance, a specialised nurse (Itinerary Patient Manager - IPM) will contact you by phone before your admission (excluding emergencies) to:

  • prepare for your stay,
  • answer your questions,
  • and coordinate your care before and during your hospital stay.

Enquiries can be made from Monday to Friday, from 7.00 am to 4.00 pm, by telephone on 021 641 37 27 or by email at ipm@lasource.ch.

Detecting and treating anaemia before surgery

Better preparing your surgery

Clinique de La Source follows the principles of Patient Blood Management (PBM).

This approach aims to preserve your own blood and enhance your safety before, during, and after surgery. In particular, it involves detecting and treating any anaemia before the procedure.

Before your surgery, your doctor can order a blood test, which should be performed at Clinique de La Source, ideally 1 month before your procedure. Learn more about our blood draw service here.

Our laboratories screen for anaemia and its causes so that it can be treated before surgery.

Since anaemia is often linked to iron deficiency, you may be offered an iron injection, ideally 3 to 4 weeks before the procedure.

The benefits of Patient Blood Management

The Patient Blood Management (PBM) program helps protect your health:

  • Fewer blood transfusions and complications,
  • A shorter hospital stay,
  • Faster postoperative recovery,
  • Optimized surgical outcomes.

By limiting transfusions to situations where they are necessary, PBM helps preserve blood supplies in Switzerland.
