Cardiology is one of the many specialities offered by our institution. It focuses on adult patients suffering from diseases related to the heart and vessels, offering a wide range of non-invasive investigations and treatment options from the simplest to the most complex cases.
Activities in which the Clinic specialises:
Angiology
This speciality incorporates the non-invasive treatment of vascular, arterial and venous pathologies.
Nuclear cardiology
These tests are performed in conjunction with the Clinic’s Institute of radiology. Nuclear medicine enables assessment of cardiac muscle distress with the use of several medical imaging techniques such as MRI, scintigraphy and other types of scan.
Electrical cardioversion (ECV)
Cardioversion is a simple method of restoring normal cardiac rhythm in patients presenting persistent cardiac rhythm disorder (arrhythmia) despite optimal drug therapy.
Cine-angiocardiography
Image intensification used to examine the kinetics of metallic cardiac valves with high resolution images of cardiac valve prostheses (metallic).
Electrocardiogram (ECG)
An electrocardiogram provides a record of the electrical activity of the heart.
Transthoracic echocardiogram (TTE)
Echocardiography or cardiac ultrasound or Doppler ultrasound is a technique that uses ultrasound to examine the heart’s structures, their movements and the blood flow in the cardiac chambers.
Transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE)
The introduction of an ultrasound probe to the oesophagus provides a better view of cardiac structures that lie further in the chest cavity, facilitating the identification of certain types of disorder.
3D or three-dimensional echocardiography
The use of special probes enables three-dimensional echocardiography of cardiac function in real-time.
Ergometry / Exercise test
Recording the heart’s electrical activity during timed physical activity.
Holter
The Holter is a portable device that records cardiac rhythm for 24-48 hours.
Remler
The Remler is a portable device that records blood pressure for 24-48 hours.
